The Return of the Prodigal Son

im back. finally. took way too long, and i apologise. i just hope someone still wanders into my site, and if you are that someone please spread the word that Trip Fontaine is back on the map. so whats new you ask? well, ive moved out, i live in Hietalahti (in Helsinki), which is like a kilometer from the center of helsinki for you non-finnish people whoever you might be. its been really fantastic, living by my lonesome has been something ive been looking forward to for quite long. and now its here (has been for the past month) . . . and i feel fine. ive also started studying in a school very near me, its called Cityfolkhögskolan and i study documentary filmmaking. so far thats been absolutely fantastic. so all in all, you could say im doing quite well. however, the lack of football in my life is starting to take its toll, but that shall be fixed in the spring when the season for amateur teams starts...

last week i went to see quite a few movies at the Helsinki International Film Festival (Rakkautta & Anarkiaa), and id just like to suggest a few gems for you --first of all a good serious drama about confused skinheads in Thatcher's Britain -"This is England" and then a hilarious "walker and talker" (didnt invent that term..) about a couple in paris, pretty much arguing throughout the movie, fantastically funny -"2 Days in Paris", those of you who live in Helsinki or thereabouts have the chance to see it in the commercial release starting this friday (5.10). and if you want to be inspired to change the world go see "Sharkwater" (dont think its coming to a commercial release in finland...), an amazingly beautiful documentary about our misconceptions about sharks and their horrible state (7,000+ sharks are killed every hour). has a hint of pretentiousness, but never goes overtop to become annyoing in any way, its fantastic. go out of your way to see it.

so thats that for a short update, now i gotta go and enjoy the benefits of living in town.

this is the Odyssey, signing off...

PS. felt like the look needed a change to freshen things up a bit, and to emphasize a new phase in the evolution of my blog. :)
